Biography of Seyi Shay.

Her civil names are Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua.Seyi

was born of Nigerian parents. Her mother hails from the north while her father is from Ife in Osun state. Seyi went to both primary and secondary school here. She went to Command High School, Maryland. After her secondary school, she went back to London to further her education.
She is a graduate of Business Management from the university of East London and she also studied music at a studio in London.
 She was introduced into music at the tender age of six,was in her school choir in secondary school.She was also part of the London Community Gospel choir when they toured 13 countries and became popular for that. She says her family has been a huge influence for her music wise having her mother and sister who used to compose songs. Her brother is also a radio and club DJ.
 Seyi shay wrote a lot of songs even she started her career. She wrote 3 songs for the Konami video game, one for Melanie C and " White" for Chip in his 2008 album. While in school, she joined a now defunct pop group,"from above" and became their lead singer. They were signed to Sony/Columbia music and managed by world entertainment company owned by Matthew Knowles, Beyonce's father.During this time, he took them to Houston where they undertook vocal and dance lessons and supported Bey in her London tour of Manchester, Newscastle and Nottingham.
 In 2011,she met with Sound Sultan in London who encouraged her to come back to Nigeria to pursue her musical career. She also met with Cecil Hammond, owner of Flytime music and he signed her.
 Some of her songs are Ragga ragga, Chairman, Murda, to name a few. She has worked with producers like Cobhams Asuquo,Del B, Tee y mix, Jay Sleek and the highlight of her career has been performing with Wale at the Johnnie Walker step up to VIP show in Lagos. She classifies her music as Afro reggae and R&B.
